Quick Answer

Double eyelid revision corrects unsatisfactory outcomes from prior surgery — high crease (sometimes called sausage eyes), asymmetry, scar issues, or premature unfolding. Etonne enforces a 6-month wait protocol before revision. Realistic expectation: improvement, not perfection.

Why This Page Exists

A meaningful share of the patients we see at Etonne arrive with double eyelid surgery already completed elsewhere — in Korea, in their home country, or in a third country — and an outcome that did not match what they were promised. The most common presentations:

Revision double eyelid surgery is one of the most technically demanding procedures in the eyelid category. The realistic expectation is improvement, not perfection. Honest discussion of what is achievable in your specific case is the foundation of revision care at Etonne.

CRITICAL POLICY

The 6-Month Wait Protocol

The single most common error we see in revision consultations is patients seeking revision too early. Tissue does not finish settling for 6–12 months after the initial surgery. A crease that looks high, swollen, or asymmetric at week 4 may resolve substantially by month 6 without any surgical intervention.

Less than 6 months post-op

Revision is not performed except for clear functional emergencies. Acute swelling and inflammation must subside first.

6 to 12 months post-op

Revision is evaluated case-by-case. Tissue may still be settling.

Over 12 months post-op

Revision can be planned definitively.

If you contact us at 4 weeks post-op in panic about your result, we will tell you to wait. We will not schedule a revision that may not be necessary.

WHAT WE CAN ADDRESS

Revision Categories

High Crease ("Sausage Eyes")

A crease placed too high during the original incisional surgery can produce a permanently elevated, puffy lid. Correction involves lowering the crease line, releasing the levator-skin attachment, and tissue rearrangement. Realistic expectation: significant improvement, but the original incision scar remains.

Asymmetry

The most frequent revision indication. Strategy depends on whether one or both creases are off-target. Often unilateral revision matching the affected side to the lower side.

Excessive Fat Removal (Hollow Upper Lid)

Correction requires fat grafting from another body site (usually abdomen) or, in mild cases, dermal filler.

Scar Refinement

Visible crease scars can be refined with revision incision technique, scar tissue release, and the same scar-fading protocol used for primary cases.

Non-Incisional Crease Unfolding

Conversion to partial incision or incisional technique. Etonne offers conversion at a reduced fee for original Etonne non-incisional patients within 5 years.

HONEST DISCLOSURE

What We Cannot Always Promise

Revision is harder than primary surgery. We are honest about this:

If a patient expects perfection from revision, we will discuss this honestly during consultation rather than schedule a procedure that will disappoint.

FAQ

Revision FAQ

It has only been 3 weeks since my original surgery and I am panicking. Should I book a revision?

No. Tissue has not settled. What you are seeing at week 3 is acute and subacute swelling, not the final result. Wait until at least 6 months post-op, then re-evaluate. Booking a revision at 4 weeks would likely produce a worse outcome than your final settled appearance.

I had a "sausage eye" outcome from a clinic in [country]. Can Etonne fix it?

We can typically improve it significantly. Whether the result becomes "natural" depends on how much skin and tissue remains for redistribution. We will examine your case during consultation and tell you honestly what level of improvement is realistic.

My non-incisional crease has started to unfold after 4 years. What is the best correction?

Conversion to partial incision is typically the most reliable correction. The new crease is permanent. Etonne offers conversion at a reduced fee for original Etonne non-incisional patients within 5 years.

Can I reverse my double eyelid surgery and return to a hooded lid?

Reversal of an over-elevated crease is challenging but possible. Treatment requires lowering the existing crease and may involve tissue grafting. Complete restoration to the original monolid is not realistic.

How long should I plan to be in Seoul for a revision?

7–10 days. Slightly longer than primary surgery because revision swelling is more variable.
