Gangnam Unni (강남언니, "Gangnam Sister") is the most popular Korean app for plastic surgery clinic comparison. It functions as a marketplace — clinics list procedures with promotional pricing, patients book consultations through the app, and the app earns a commission on referred bookings.

A similar app, Babitalk (바비톡), serves the same market. International patients often discover these apps through Reddit recommendations and assume the listed prices apply equally to them. The reality is more complicated.

Are Listed Prices Honored for Foreigners?

Pattern 1 · Promotional Price for New Local Residents Only

Many listings show two prices: a higher "regular" price and a lower "event" price. The event price is often conditional on being a new patient with a Korean phone number, booking through the app, writing a public review, and submitting before/after photos to the app.

Pattern 2 · Listed Price + "Concierge Fee"

Some clinics honor the app price for foreigners but add a separate English-language concierge fee that effectively raises the total. Marketed as "international patient support" but materially functions as a foreign-patient surcharge.

Pattern 3 · Pricing Identical Regardless of Channel

A small subset of clinics — typically smaller boutique clinics — honor the same surgical fee regardless of nationality or channel. Etonne is in this category.

Will the App Price Apply to You?

If you find a clinic listing on Gangnam Unni and the price looks attractive:

1. Message the clinic directly (via WhatsApp, email, or the clinic's own website — not through the app).
2. Mention the listing: "I saw your facelift listed at ₩[X] on Gangnam Unni. Would this price apply to me as an international patient?"
3. Read the response carefully:
- • "Yes, the same price applies" → Pattern 3 (rare). Trustworthy.
- • "Promotional price requires Korean residency" → Pattern 1. Negotiate or reconsider.
- • "We can match the price but there is an additional ₩[Y] international patient fee" → Pattern 2. The total is what matters.
- • Vague non-answer or refusal to confirm in writing → assume the worst.

Useful For Discovery, Not for Booking

Gangnam Unni is useful for:
