What This Page Is

International patients coming to Korea for plastic surgery face a small set of recurring fears that volume-driven clinics rarely address directly: who actually performs the operation, what happens during anesthesia, what you receive in writing afterwards, and whether the price you were quoted is the price you actually pay.

This page is Etonne's direct answer. Eight promises. Each tied to a specific concern voiced by patients in English-language plastic-surgery forums. Each promise is operational — not marketing. We changed how we run the clinic to make these promises real, then put them in writing here so you can verify them at every stage of your care.

CONCERNS WE ANSWER

Recurring Patient Concerns

"How do I know the surgeon I consulted with will be the one who actually operates?"

"My operative report just says 'total facelift' — was a deep plane lift actually performed, or just a SMAS?"

"The clinic promised a dedicated anesthesiologist, but in reality there was one anesthesiologist covering the whole floor."

"My in-person consultation was scheduled the same day as surgery — I had no time to think."

"My coordinator could barely communicate in English; basic questions had to be repeated three times."

"After surgery, my operating surgeon went on holiday for a week — I never saw them again."

"There was no proactive follow-up; I had to chase the clinic to ask if my recovery was normal."

"I was quoted $12,000 USD by an English-speaking concierge for a procedure that costs Korean patients $4,000."

These concerns are legitimate. The eight promises below address each one explicitly.

THE EIGHT PROMISES

Etonne's Operational Commitments

01

Same surgeon from incision to closure

A single accountable surgeon. Same name on the consultation, the surgical plan, and the operative report. From first incision to final closure.

This is what Etonne calls real-name surgical guarantee. The surgeon's name is documented in your medical record before anesthesia begins. There is no rotation, no "assistance" by an unnamed colleague who performs the actual technical steps.

02

Dedicated board-certified anesthesiologist for every general anesthesia case

Dr. Jung Eunjin — board-certified anesthesiologist, MS and completed PhD coursework (ABD) at Seoul National University, residency at SNU Hospital — is present in the operating room for every general anesthesia case at Etonne.

During these cases she is not assigned to multiple operating rooms simultaneously, and she is not rotating between procedures. Many high-volume clinics share one anesthesiologist across an entire surgical floor during general anesthesia — your airway is monitored intermittently or by a nurse anesthetist for stretches of the operation. Sleep sedation cases at Etonne are managed under our standard sedation monitoring protocols with continuous vital monitoring.

03

Operative report in English within 7 days of surgery

You receive a full operative report, written in English, within 7 days of your operation. Signed by the operating surgeon. Naming the exact technique used.

For a facelift, this means the report says, for example, "Extended Deep Plane Facelift with Lateral SMAS-Platysma Flap Elevation and Platysmaplasty" — not a generic marketing label like "total facelift." If a deep plane technique was promised, the operative report names "deep plane." There is no ambiguity.

04

24–48h consult-surgery gap recommended

We recommend a minimum 24 to 48 hour gap between your in-person consultation and your operation as the default. The gap gives you space to sleep on the plan, discuss with your partner, family, or trusted physician at home, and refine the plan or change technique after the in-person evaluation if needed.

By exception — when travel scheduling requires it — same-day consult-and-surgery is available with a deposit and an extended in-person consultation prior to the procedure to ensure informed decision-making.

05

C1-level English coordinator — written and spoken

Your patient coordinator at Etonne speaks and writes English at a minimum C1 (advanced) level. No Google Translate intermediation. No reliance on third-party interpreters during clinical communication.

This applies to WhatsApp messages, in-person consultation, and pre-operative briefings. If a question requires nuance, idiom, or follow-up, you will receive a fluent answer.

06

Surgeon-led 1-week post-op follow-up

Your 1-week post-op follow-up is conducted by the operating surgeon — not the coordinator. In person at the clinic when you are still in Seoul, or via online video when travel makes that impractical.

Subsequent follow-ups continue at weeks 2, 4, 8, 12, and 6 months — with the same surgeon for each touchpoint where scheduling allows.

07

CCTV viewing rights documented

Korean medical regulation allows patients to view CCTV footage of their own surgery in person at the operating clinic, within a defined window after the procedure. At Etonne, this right is documented in your consent form.

You may request CCTV viewing at any point during the 30 days following your surgery, free of charge, in person at our clinic. Korean privacy law requires viewing in person; we cannot release copies. The footage shows your operation from start to finish, with the operating surgeon visible throughout. This right exists to verify Promise 1.

08

Transparent USD pricing — no concierge markup

The same surgical fee applies to local Korean patients and international patients. There is no markup for nationality.

Etonne does not work through third-party medical-tourism concierge services (Bookimed, MediGo, or others) that quote international patients 3 to 5 times the actual clinic fee. Your booking is direct via WhatsApp, your quote is the surgeon's quote, and your invoice matches what a local Korean patient pays for the same procedure.

ON THE GHOST DOCTOR CONCERN

A Verifiable Answer, Not Marketing

Patients in English-language plastic-surgery forums sometimes raise concern about "ghost doctors" or "shadow doctors" in Korean clinics: the practice of an unnamed surgeon performing the technical work of an operation while the consulting surgeon is credited.

The Korean medical media has used the same term to describe documented cases at high-volume facilities. We will not minimize the concern, and we will not name specific clinics. What we will do is offer a verifiable answer for our own clinic:

  1. 1. Promise 1 above documents the named surgeon at every stage.
  2. 2. Promise 7 above lets you verify it via CCTV.
  3. 3. Promise 3 — the operative report in English — names the surgeon and the technique.

These three promises together are designed so that the concern does not require trust. It requires only verification.

FAQ

Patient Safety FAQ

Can you guarantee the consulting surgeon will perform 100% of my surgery?

Yes. Promise 1 documents the named surgeon at every stage; Promise 7 (CCTV viewing) lets you verify it; Promise 3 (operative report in English) provides written evidence. The three together remove the need for trust — the concern is verifiable.

Why does the dedicated anesthesiologist matter for general anesthesia cases?

General anesthesia near the airway requires continuous airway management by a specialist. A nurse anesthetist or rotating provider during general anesthesia is not equivalent. Dr. Jung Eunjin (board-certified, SNU-trained) is in the operating room for every Etonne case performed under general anesthesia. Sleep sedation cases are managed under our standard sedation monitoring protocols with continuous vital monitoring.

What is the operative report and why does it matter?

The operative report is a clinical document signed by the operating surgeon describing exactly what was performed. At Etonne, it is provided in English within 7 days of surgery, naming the exact technique. This is your evidence that the procedure performed matches what was promised.

Will I have time to think about the surgical plan after my in-person consultation?

Yes — Promise 4 ensures a 24-48h gap. We do not schedule consultation and surgery on the same day. You may sleep on the plan, discuss with family, or change your mind.

Can I view CCTV footage of my own operation?

Yes — Promise 7 documents this right. Within 30 days of your surgery, free of charge, in person at our clinic. Korean privacy law requires in-person viewing; copies cannot be released.

What is the pricing structure for international patients?

Same as for Korean patients. Promise 8. No nationality markup. Etonne does not work through third-party concierges who add 3-5× quote inflation. Direct booking via WhatsApp is the only channel.

What should I do if I encounter a deviation from these promises?

Message the operating surgeon directly via WhatsApp (not the coordinator). We will document the issue, address it, and report back in writing within 48 hours.
